ALAA Postgraduate Travel Scholarships
ALAA offers travel scholarships to support postgraduate attendance at the conference. Four scholarships of up to $600 each will be available for 2008. Full time research postgraduates from Australian institutions are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to member applicants. Funding will only be given to applicants who will be presenting a paper at the conference. The scholarships may be used for conference registration, travel, or accommodation and will be awarded in the form of reimbursements after the conference.
Application Process
Students wishing to apply for a travel scholarship should send in an application with the information listed below:
- a cover sheet detailing the name of the applicant, institution, member status, contact details, year of study, name of supervisor(s) and expected travel costs
- a one-page summary of the research
- the abstract accepted for presentation
- a CV
- a letter of support from their supervisor
Selection will be made by the ALAA Executive Committee.

MACS ALI 2008 Scholarship for Macquarie Centre for Cognative Science Students
Note: Please note that this scholarship is available to students of the Macquarie Centre for Cognative Science only.
This year MACS is offering two $250 awards for MACCS students who wish to attend workshops held at the Australian Linguistic Institute in July 2008. Student who are awarded this money, will have their registration costs reimbursed by $250.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 12th May.
To apply for this scholarship, you must complete the scholarship application form. Your application should list the specific workshops you wish to attend and the reason that these workshops are essential/beneficial to your PhD progress. Applications must be signed by yourself and your primary supervisor.
Application received by the closing date will be considered by a small selection panel of MACCS members (which will not include the primary supervisor of any applicant). The applications will awarded based on the academic merit of the applicant and the justification of workshop attendance.
