Two bush walks are planned for LingFest.

Bundeena
and the Royal National Park, just south of Sydney.
There are lovely beaches down there (although it's too cold to
swim this time of year), nice coastal scenery, and some
Aboriginal rock carvings.
We will meet at 9.15am at
Central station in Sydney to catch the 9.30 train to
Cronulla. I'll be waiting in the country departures hall at the
electronic indicator boards [.pdf of map]
. I'll be wearing a lingfest T-shirt.
Once we're at Cronulla we'll catch the ferry to Bundeena. From
Bundeena we'll walk out to the coast. We will come back the same
way in reverse. The walk is a loop and we can change the size of
the loop depending on when people want to get back to Sydney and
how people are feeling on the walk.
Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and to bring water,
food and a hat. There are shops at the start and end of the walk
so we can have ice cream at the end.

Spit Bridge to Manly
- follows the edge of Sydney Harbour
- 3-4 hours, though we may take longer if we stop a lot
- quite easy, though rated medium "mostly good surfaces but with
some rough or steep sections"
- passes Aboriginal rock engravings
- chance to swim if you are so inclined in the middle of winter
- pass a café after an hour or so
- finish at Manly where there are lots of restaurants and cafes etc
Transport information:
Get yourselves (by bus
or ring 131500) to Wynyard Station in time to catch:
180 Bus, 8.29am Stand C, Carrington St - behind Wynyard
Station [.pdf of map]
- arrive at the Spit bridge at 8.52am
- we will wait for 15 mins while people go to the toilet or get a
coffee
- at 9.15 we will cross the bridge to the Northern side and then
head east along the foreshore.
- Buses to the Spit leave about every 30 mins. There is another at
9.03am from the same stand.. So if you miss this one, jump on the next
one and you can easily catch up to us (the walk is VERY well marked).
- NB, from 10am till about
10.30am the bridge cannot be crossed (as well as 8.30am-9.30am) as it
is open to let boats through.
- we return via a ferry
from Manly to Circular Quay in the afternoon
- anyone is welcome to hang around Manly till the evening
Please bring:
- comfortable walking shoes
- sufficient water and food for the day (though we will arrive at
Manly in the afternoon)
So, I will be at the bus stop at about 8am. I will be the
short woman wearing the black Lingfest t-shirt with blue writing on
the front.
